Use Recoheat with confidence

This guide follows your account level automatically.

Access and saving

  1. Free access lets you create and edit one temporary home and revisit it for 24 hours. After that, editing and device access pause until access is active. You can still sign in, download your account data or request deletion.
  2. Customer access supports one owned home. Pro and Enterprise support broader professional and portfolio workflows.
  3. A physical Recoheat purchase includes Customer access; redeem the purchase claim associated with the order.
  4. After access is active, return to Recoheat. A current preview becomes durable, and saving permission is verified by the server on every write.

Install Recoheat on a phone or tablet

  1. Open Recoheat in Safari on an iPhone or iPad, or in Chrome on Android.
  2. Open your account menu and choose Install Recoheat. If the browser offers an install prompt, accept it.
  3. On iPhone or iPad, if no prompt appears, open Safari’s Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen.
  4. On Android, if no prompt appears, open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  5. Open Recoheat from its new icon. Sign-in and home data still require an internet connection.

The offline page contains no account or home information. Reconnect before viewing or changing a home.

View your home

  1. Open Recoheat to see your default home. Use the home name menu to switch home or create another when your account permits it.
  2. Use the prominent Floor control to move between floors. Selecting a room in viewing mode opens its detail without entering editing.
  3. Choose Air profile to colour room readings by condition. Green is healthy, amber needs attention and red needs action.
  4. Use the compact table icon for exact room values. Return to Model view for the spatial picture.

A warning reflects the least healthy current room reading. Open Air profile or Table view to identify the room and measurement responsible.

Read heat, energy and air insights

  1. Open your account tools and choose Heat, energy and air insights.
  2. Use Day, Week or Month to change the room-monitor history. The heat-flow and daily-energy cards retain one consistent model scenario so comparisons remain fair.
  3. The central heat-flow view shows heating supplied, heat moving between rooms, mean air temperature and heat leaving through fabric or outside air.
  4. Energy values are model estimates from the home’s geometry, heating appliances and fabric assumptions. Air-quality trends are observed readings and remain visibly empty when no monitor has reported.
  5. Pro accounts can switch to Customer portfolio. Only homes covered by an active Manage grant are included, and no aggregate is returned until at least two customer homes contribute.
  6. For a home you own with saving access, set the model conditions and select Save this model run. Select an earlier and a later saved run, then Compare estimates to review their assumptions and results together. Model runs stay with their owner; a client data grant does not share them.

Saved heat-flow runs are modelled estimates, not measured device readings or central research data. Portfolio responses contain means and sample counts only; they omit customer names, addresses, home identifiers, room identifiers and device identifiers.

Create a home

  1. Choose the property form, number of floors and bedrooms. Recoheat selects the matching architecture template directly.
  2. Choose Central heating and its fuel, or choose Other to add heating later. Saved templates contain architecture only.
  3. Name the home and create it. The new model opens in the shared editor.
  4. Connect an existing Home Assistant installation now or later, or use Recoheat’s supported device setup when you do not have one. Device connections belong to this home.

Edit structure and contents

Structure

Edit rooms, walls, corners, doors, windows, vents and stairs. Contents remain protected from accidental structural gestures.

Contents

Add or move furniture, sensors, appliances and heat sources without dragging the architecture.

  1. Select Edit, then choose Structure or Contents.
  2. Select the target directly in the model. The toolkit changes to the tasks available for that target.
  3. For a room, open Details and choose Measure this room with your phone. Supported LiDAR iPhones can scan with Apple RoomPlan; every device can enter checked tape, laser or phone measurements. Review the result before applying it.
  4. Use drag controls for direct changes or Settings for exact values. Sensors expose vertical position; other objects start on the floor.
  5. A highlighted save control means that target has unsaved work. Green means its changes are saved.

Add rooms and floors

  1. In Structure mode, choose Add room and select External extension or Internal room.
  2. For an extension, select the existing room in the plan, then select one of its highlighted outside walls. Use the form for exact position, dimensions, storeys and joining opening.
  3. Windows, outside doors and vents covered by the extension move to the corresponding new outside wall automatically. Adjust or remove them afterward if required.
  4. For an internal room, select the room and highlighted wall to divide. Move any object that crosses the proposed dividing line before completing the split.
  5. Shared walls and openings are saved atomically so airflow and heat-flow paths are recalculated from one consistent plan.

Connect monitors and devices

  1. Open Add device and select the home that will own the connection. Choose your existing Home Assistant installation or Recoheat’s supported setup path; some hardware still needs a coordinator or an external setup step.
  2. For your own Home Assistant, first follow the identity companion installation steps. Then authorise as an administrator in Home Assistant; Recoheat does not ask for its password in the app. Your installation is not copied into Recoheat’s shared backend.
  3. When supported devices appear, give each one a recognisable name and assign it to a room. Review its reported state and available controls in Device control. A saved assignment alone does not verify a physical response.
  4. For an AirGradient cloud monitor, connect your AirGradient account separately and choose the room it measures. This direct connection does not need Home Assistant.
  5. In that home’s model editor, save a sensor in the same room (an older saved monitor object also works), then select it. Choose the connected physical AirGradient monitor and select Save monitor link. Map a Home Assistant monitor to this sensor is a separate action for Home Assistant connections.
  6. Check that the editor shows the saved link, then check Air profile or Table view for reported readings. A saved link alone does not verify a physical monitor or current readings; empty rooms do not generate sensor data.

After a Home Assistant monitor is mapped, the owner may separately choose future account-linked research copies by reading the V2 notice, ticking the choice and selecting Start future research copies. The monitor works without this choice. A prior V1 grant continues copying for authorised Recoheat research staff under its original notice until the owner chooses Upgrade future research copies to V2 or Stop future research copies. The V2 choice applies only to new readings; it does not upgrade or backfill V1 or operational history. Stopping future copies leaves already submitted account-linked history until home or account deletion. Linked Pro or Enterprise access also requires a separate, current per-home data-access grant. The older Home Assistant pilot operational retention remains a separate policy. An independently anonymised research bank is not active.

Pair Zigbee, Tuya and other devices

Home Assistant is the pairing adapter for these platforms. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to power and prepare a device, then use the relevant Home Assistant integration. Home Assistant support alone does not establish that a device or entity has been verified with Recoheat.

  1. In Recoheat, choose Add device and the home that will own it. For your own Home Assistant installation, complete the Recoheat identity companion steps and authorise that installation as its administrator.
  2. Pair a Zigbee device in Home Assistant using Zigbee Home Automation (ZHA) with a compatible coordinator, or use Zigbee2MQTT pairing with its own coordinator and Home Assistant discovery through MQTT. Choose the stack that manages that Zigbee network; these are alternative setup paths.
  3. For Tuya devices, first add the device to Tuya Smart or Smart Life, then follow Home Assistant's Tuya integration guide. This Home Assistant route does not require Recoheat's use of the Tuya app SDK or a Tuya developer account. Available device functions vary by model and integration.
  4. For other hardware, consult Home Assistant's Matter, Z-Wave JS, Shelly or ESPHome guidance, or its integration directory. Matter over Thread needs a Thread border router; Z-Wave and Zigbee need suitable adapters. These are Home Assistant pairing options, not a Recoheat compatibility list.
  5. Confirm the expected entity and a changing reading or state in Home Assistant. Return to Recoheat's Add device and Device control to inspect supported entities, name the device and assign it to the selected home's room. If an entity is unavailable, finish its platform setup in Home Assistant before trying the Recoheat assignment. A saved room link alone does not prove live readings or a physical control response.
  6. For energy monitoring, check that the device actually exposes power in watts or cumulative energy in kWh. See Home Assistant's individual-device energy guide. Recoheat's own-Home-Assistant metered-plug recording path is still an inactive preview; pairing a meter in Home Assistant does not start Recoheat polling, recording or switch control.

AirGradient cloud monitors use Recoheat's separate direct connection. For any future retained account-linked Home Assistant reading, the owner must make the separate source-specific V2 choice; sharing a design or pairing a device is not research consent.

Metered-plug recording preview

The metered-plug link and recording flow in Device control is not yet active. Recoheat will enable it after verifying the owner's Home Assistant installation identity and signed-in account isolation. It cannot currently add switch, power or energy readings to your retained history.

  1. Once the flow is enabled, first pair a compatible metered smart plug in your own Home Assistant installation. In Add device, connect that installation to the selected home and follow its supported setup steps. Some integrations still require a coordinator or a step in Home Assistant; support for any particular plug or Tuya device remains unverified.
  2. In Device control, you will name the switch and assign it to a room. A switch reporting power and cumulative energy can then be linked for read-only monitoring. Linking alone will not record history.
  3. Recording will require you to read and affirm the separate V2 research-history notice for that plug. This choice will apply only to new account-linked readings; earlier operational or V1 readings will not be upgraded or backfilled.
  4. When active, Record current readings will capture the plug's reported switch state, watts and cumulative kWh only when you press it. This preview does not include automatic polling or plug commands. You will be able to review saved history in Connected data; stopping future recording will not erase previously submitted account-linked history.

The planned path uses your own Home Assistant as a pairing and reading adapter, not Recoheat's shared Home Assistant backend. A linked Pro or Enterprise account would also need your current per-home data-access grant to view retained history. Physical plug response and supported models still need real-device verification.

Run a heating simulation

  1. Open Simulation and set starting indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, target temperature and duration.
  2. Review heat-source output, efficiency, radiator provision and valve opening; these determine the useful heat delivered.
  3. Run the model. Playback advances in five-minute model increments and the settings panel closes on compact screens.
  4. Review room temperature, airflow, heat loss, fuel use and estimated daily cost. Edit unit fuel prices in the report when your tariff differs from the default.

A simulation is a decision aid, not an energy certificate or a substitute for a heating engineer’s calculation.

Share a home design

  1. Open the home and choose Send a design copy. Enter the customer’s or installer’s account email and review the invitation.
  2. The invited person signs in with that email and accepts a separate editable copy of the existing house model: rooms, openings and objects.
  3. Device links, Home Assistant and AirGradient connections, credentials, readings and controls remain with the original home. The recipient can connect their own devices to the copy.
  4. If a one-home Customer already owns a home, they must explicitly agree before it is archived and replaced by the new copy. Older same-home invitations need to be cancelled and sent again as design copies.
